Dyfi Bike Park Everest Challenge Easter ‘25

Over Easter weekend at Dyfi Bike Park in Machynlleth, Wales, I will be attempting a solo Everest attempt on my mountain bike. This consists of climbing the height of Everest, which is a formidable 8,849m of elevation, and riding down the Bike Park tracks. This equates to 27 laps covering approximately 230km.

For context, on an average uplift day (where the rider gets driven to the top of the Park), most people will complete 6-8 laps. I am estimating this will take approximately an hour a lap, and therefore taking a good 30-35 hours to complete. I am only planning on stopping for food/hydration purposes.

Why? Several reason really; the most prominant being the loss of my mum due to Cancer in 2017. She was without doubt, my biggest supporter in whatever venture I took on and making her proud was, and still is my main motivation to keep pushing forward.

Since her passing, I’ve wanted to do a big challenge that pushes me further than I’ve gone before to raise money for a charity that will one day hopefully help people hold on to their loved ones.

I’m also raising money for The Wales Air Ambulance who have come to the rescue of some good friends, and are always on hand when s*it hits the fan in the great outdoors.

Finally, and maybe a little self indulgent…I want to see what I’m made of, and how far my body can go…fingers crossed it’s not made of marshmallows and candy floss.

Any donation to either charity will be greatly appreciated. This is something very close to mine and so many other peoples hearts.
