EAST LANCASHIRE UC DEADLINE DODGERS are in it for the long haul…and probably the snacks!

Our college team is taking on Relay for Life Rossendale 2027 — walking, talking, laughing, probably complaining about our feet, and doing our bit to help beat cancer.

But behind the laughs, questionable walking techniques and inevitable sugar-fuelled laps is a cause that means an enormous amount to us.

Cancer has touched our college community in far too many ways. We have lost much-loved colleagues to cancer, we have staff members who have faced cancer diagnoses and gone through treatment, and every one of us knows a friend, family member or loved one who has heard those words nobody ever wants to hear.

So, we’re relaying for them. 💜

For the colleagues we miss.

For the colleagues who have fought and come through treatment.

For those still fighting.

For the families and friends standing beside them.

And for the hope that one day, fewer people will have to face cancer at all.

Over the course of Relay for Life, we’ll keep going because cancer doesn’t stop when we’re tired — so neither will we.

There will undoubtedly be sore feet, tired legs, terrible jokes, copious amounts of caffeine and at least one person questioning why they ever signed up… but every lap will be worth it.

Every lap has a purpose. Every pound makes a difference. Every person we remember gives us another reason to keep going.

So please dig deep, donate what you can and help cheer on East Lancashire UC Deadline Dodgers as we take on Relay for Life Rossendale.

Together, we’ll walk.

Together, we’ll remember.

Together, we’ll celebrate.

And together, we’ll help fund a future where cancer doesn’t get the final word.
