ECCH Stroke ESD Team are fundraising for Stroke Association!
Make May Purple is the Stroke Association's fundraising and awareness campaign held during Stroke Awareness Month in May.
In the UK, a stroke occurs approximately every five minutes, equating to around 240 people having a stroke every single day, which is over 100,000 annually. There are over 1.4 million stroke survivors in the UK, with stroke being a leading cause of disability and causing roughly 34,000 deaths annually.
Mums, dads, grandparents, young people, and even children can be left unable to move, see, speak or even swallow. It's a traumatic, life-changing event that robs survivors and their families of the life they knew.
The ECCH Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team are planning to 'Make May Purple' by completing 240 miles (through walking, running, cycling, swimming etc) as a team over the month of May to raise awareness and fund vital support for all people affected by stroke.
