Story
We’re running parkrun to raise money for The Ellis Edwards Foundation.
The Slades Junior Park run is a friendly 2km run on the 4th October 2026, open to all children aged 4 to 14. Children can walk or run - the aim is for all children to have fun and join in whatever their pace!
Following the success of the 2025 Junior Park Run, which saw the biggest turn out ever at Slades Farm, the charity is inviting the community to run again to raise money for the Ellis Edwards Foundation.
The Ellis Edwards Foundation's mission is to offer a glimmer of light during a child’s darkest days. They support children who are grieving the loss of a parent, sibling, or caregiver by providing accessible, inclusive, and therapeutic experiences that ease the emotional burden of childhood bereavement. Through grief breaks, counselling support, and meaningful family days out, they help children and their families process loss, build resilience, and rediscover moments of joy together.
The charity was founded by Ellis’s parents, Eddie and Carly, in memory of Ellis who lost his battle with neuroblastoma aged 11. They are a community-powered charity of volunteers, with a shared commitment to making a difference. Led by Eddie and Carly, their own heart-breaking experiences have driven a deep purpose to offer comfort to children who have been affected by the passing of a loved one.
Through individual fundraising, community events like the park run, and charitable donations, the Ellis Edwards Foundation is able to support children and their families during their darkest days.
Every pound raised helps to provide these vital experiences to children who need them most.
