Story
The Walkwyse 109 mile “Endure for a Cure” is far more than a four day endurance event. It is a journey of determination, love, and hope. Over four days, a small team of people will take on the 109-mile ultra marathons, across some of the most challenging and beautiful landscapes in the South West, including 33 miles along the rugged South West Coast Path and 16 miles across the wild expanse of Dartmoor. August 28th - 31st 2026
Their goal is to raise £50,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK and Dartmouth Caring. Every pound raised brings us closer to a future where Alzheimer’s no longer steals memories, independence, and connection from over 1 million people in the UK. The funds will also support the Dartmouth Caring Memory Café, a lifeline for many local families living with dementia.
The event is organised by Peter, through his not for profit company Walkwyse Ltd., and it is deeply personal. Peter, who is part of the Dartmouth Caring community, will walk side by side with three Dartmouth Caring staff members and Peter’s brother. Sadly, Peter’s wife Lin is unable to participate due to the advanced state of her Alzheimer’s. Four others will join as a relay team, each taking on one ultra marathon. Others will walk one or two stages, and the hope is that many Memory Café users will join together for the final mile, turning the last stretch into a moment of unity and shared strength.
