Raising money for Child Bereavement UK and Gingerbread

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our team page.

We are a group of students organising a school-wide interval fitness event, similar to a HYROX, giving students the opportunity to take part in a challenging fitness race while raising money for two vital charities: Child Bereavement UK and Gingerbread.

Both causes are deeply personal to members of our team. Gingerbread supports single-parent families by providing practical advice, guidance, and reassurance when it is needed most. This charity is particularly meaningful to us, as two members of our team have lost their father. While their fortunate situation meant this experience was not as hard as it could have been, they recognise that many families are not in the same position. Through this event, they hope to help prevent other families from facing such situations without the support they deserve.

Child Bereavement UK supports children and young people who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or loved one, offering specialist guidance and support during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Recently, a member of our team lost a close friend to leukaemia, and thanks to the support of Child Bereavement UK, his family are being guided through this incredibly challenging time. In addition, in 2024, a pupil at our school sadly died suddenly during a sports match. Once again, Child Bereavement UK has played a vital role in supporting the family as they adapt to their new reality.

Each fundraising page within this team supports one of these charities directly, ensuring donations go straight to the charity and remain eligible for Gift Aid. Together, we are working towards one shared goal: making a positive difference for children and families who need support during the most difficult times.

Thank you for supporting our team and these incredibly important causes.
