Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
My name is Mikey Jones, Chairman of Ludlow Rugby Club, and throughout the season we will be taking on a series of fundraising challenges to support the club and the wider local community.
The money raised will help fund a range of projects across all areas of the club, ensuring that Ludlow Rugby Club continues to grow both on and off the field. A portion of the funds raised will also be donated to local charities, helping us give something back to the community that supports us so well.
Our first challenge is the Everest Challenge.
On Saturday 1st August, a team of 15 players will attempt to collectively "climb" the equivalent height of Mount Everest — 8,848 metres — by running laps around Ludlow Castle. Each lap is just over 1 kilometre in length and includes 25 metres of elevation gain, meaning the team must complete an incredible 354 laps between them to reach the summit.
Every player has committed to completing 24 laps, covering well over a half marathon distance while tackling hundreds of metres of climbing along the way. This will be a true test of endurance, determination, and teamwork as the players push themselves to achieve a shared goal.
The challenge represents everything that grassroots rugby is about: commitment, camaraderie, and pulling together for something bigger than ourselves. We hope to raise vital funds for the club while supporting worthy local causes at the same time.
Any donation, no matter how large or small, will make a real difference and will be greatly appreciated by everyone involved.
Thank you for your support, and please help us reach our fundraising target as we take on the climb to Everest — one lap at a time.
