Story

A team of 8 current and former colleagues from Experian are tackling the National 3 Peaks Challenge on the 23rd September to raise money for the Neuroendocrine Cancer charity. This charity is close to our hearts as it has been a great support to our friend and colleague Alex Milburn who was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine cancer in 2015. Alex is a true fighter and has undergone two lots of major surgery and many rounds of exhausting radiotherapy treatments over the last 6 years. Despite all of this most people wouldn’t even realise what Alex has been going through due to her strength, positive attitude and bubbly personality.

The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon), within 24 hours. The total walking distance is 23 miles and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft) - twice the ascent of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, over a similar total walking distance. The total driving distance is 462 miles.

Alex was hoping to complete the challenge with us, but due to unexpected recent radiotherapy treatments she has had to withdraw. She is hoping to join us for the final mountain to give us a final push of motivation and encouragement at the last hurdle!

The mission of Neuroendocrine Cancer UK is to support and inform patients and families from diagnosis, enabling access to the best care and treatment. They fund research into Neuroendocrine Cancer treatments and trials, along with increasing awareness of this rare cancer and improving outcomes. To find out more about the research and fantastic support provided by the charity please go to: https://www.neuroendocrinecancer.org.uk/about-ncuk/

We would really appreciate any sponsorship you can give for this worthy charity. The team will be covering all expenses personally, therefore any sponsorship you can spare will be directly for the charity. We will also be applying for match funding through Experian's generous charity scheme!

Many thanks,

Adrian Gaughan, Alex Gillespie, Charlie Connor, Carl Dickens, Helen Southgate, Karl Williams, Natalie Woods, Steve Fox and Alex Milburn
