Story
We are four ladies who are embracing the lockdown by stepping out! Inspired by the Diabetes One Million Steps challenge, we decided to get together and aim to do one million steps each, and raise money for 4 charities.
Rosi - after recovering from breast cancer last year, I felt it was necessary to try and build up some strength against catching the dreaded Covid-19. Before I purchased my FitBit I was only really walking 400-500 steps daily. I have pushed myself, aimed for 5,000 and now regularly walk 11,000 a day, made much easier by being allowed out, and able to walk my grand-dog Honey!
Rhiannon - Since getting Honey, I've gone from never walking to walking daily with her, always aiming for that 10,000 step goal. 1 million steps sounds like a lot, but I'm looking forward to the challenge! I've chosen Mercy Rescue Trust as my charity, mum and I had the pleasure to visit them in Kenya in 2016 and it's a charity very close to our hearts.
Katerina - A couple of years ago, walking became my daily activity. I found it is an easy way for me to exercise. Two years ago I took part in a challenge of 10,000 steps a day for a cancer charity and I have kept this daily target up ever since.
This year I am taking part in 1,000,000 steps challenge with Rosi, Rhiannon and Sally. We all support a different charity but we are a team. I have chosen to support Diabetes UK this time as that is dear to my heart. My husband Luke was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes over 5 years ago.
So let’s keep walking, and please support us and help us to raise money for a good cause. Thank you
Sally - I have always been a walker but have become a bit lazy during lockdown! Joining the FitBit Four with Rosi, Rhiannon and Katerina has really spurred me on and now I am really up for the million steps challenge. As a Corby girl my chosen charity is Lakelands Hospice - funded and built by the people of Corby. It is the jewel in Corby's crown and does wonderful work in the community.
