Dave Lloyd has put together a team of 96 runners to run the Manchester Marathon Relay. 24 runners will run in groups of 4 in each of the 4 legs to raise much needed funds for Alzheimer's Research

Alzheimer's is very close to my family's hearts. My sister Ann and I lost our Mum from this cruel illness 3 years ago. My Wife Sue's parents were both diagnosed with Alzheimer's on the same day 5 years ago TOGETHER, which totally devastated my wife's world. Sue, who is an only child, has had to give up her full-time job as a Auxiliary nurse for 25 years to become their full time carers as they are deteriorating rapidly.

Losing a parent is terrible but to lose them twice, firstly to this terrible disease is heartbreaking.

I know that many of the 96 runners will have or have had family or friends that have been affected by this disease.

Alzheimer's Disease is an irreversible,progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills, and eventually, the ability to carry out the simplest tasks. Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of Dementia. 1 in 3 children born this year will develop dementia in their lifetime.

It is important that we all support Alzheimer;s Research to find a cure for this awful disease.
