Story
On 12 April, we’ll be running the Mersey Tunnel 10K for Brain Tumour Research, inspired by the strength and courage of someone we love deeply - Kim O’Callaghan.
We’re not elite runners… but this cause is far bigger than any of us.
In December 2023, Kim O’Callaghan was diagnosed with a terminal, inoperable Grade 4 brain tumour.
Life changed overnight.
Since that day, Kim has fought with every ounce of her mind, body and soul - not just to survive, but to live fully and fiercely in the face of the unimaginable.
Her words say it all: “Staying alive is a full-time job 😂.”
Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in the UK, claiming over 5,400 lives every year. Yet incredibly, they receive only around 1–3% of national cancer research funding, leaving survival rates heartbreakingly low.
So on 12 April, five of us (including Kim) will be taking on the Mersey Tunnel 10K to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.
Let’s be clear - we are not runners. But over the past months we’ve trained, sweated, pushed our limits and supported each other, all for this cause.
What Your Donation Could Help Fund
Every pound raised supports life-saving brain tumour research. Your donation could help make breakthroughs possible:
£10 could help fund essential laboratory equipment used in daily tumour research.
£25 could help provide chemicals and materials scientists use to test potential new treatments.
£50 could help support an hour of vital research in a specialist brain tumour laboratory.
£100+ helps researchers continue long-term studies working toward better treatments and ultimately a cure.
If just 100 people donated £10, we would raise £1,000 for brain tumour research. Small donations truly add up to life-changing science.
We may only be five women running through a tunnel…but together we hope to help shine a light on a fight that desperately needs it.
Thank you for helping us fight back.💙
