Story

Almost 100 years ago, my great grandfather and his friend heard of work going at the Southampton docks, in order to find it, they walked from their home in Merthyr Tydfil, stopping at farms and doing odd jobs along the way.

It's because of this journey that my nan, my dad, my sister and I call the south coast our home.

Last April my nan Mary Frampton passed away. She was relentlessly selfless, and never asked for anything from me or my sister, yet gave so much to give us every opportunity in life and to be the best we could.

Though she never would have asked, in her memory I am planning on recreating the walk from Merthyr Tydfil to Southampton (approximately 140 miles) in April for Cancer Research and Age UK.

I plan to walk the distance over a week, camping where possible and arrive in Southampton docks on the 9th April.

If you would like to support me on my trek, please feel free to use either of the links below to donate to the charity of your choice (my preference is for the donations to be equal on both links, but donate to whoever you would like).

I'll try to post updates on this page leading up to the day I set off. Thank you all for your support.

P.S. My great grandfather's friend didn't take a fancy to Southampton, and so decided to walk back home...
