Story
We are running the Hampton Court Palace Half Marathon on the 23rd of March 2025 to raise money for the amazing Royal Marsden, a charity very close to our hearts. Earlier this year, our beautiful grandma, Elizabeth Bennion, was diagnosed with breast cancer that had progressed to bone cancer. Our grandma was placed under the excellent The Royal Marsden, where she received outstanding care. The staff at The Royal Marsden created a kind and warm environment, making our grandma feel like she was their only patient and treating her with compassion and respect.
Elizabeth herself trained as a nurse and had a very caring nature, always looking out for our family and offering practical advice when needed. It was a comfort to us all to know that she was receiving such exceptional care, delivered in the same way she always cared for us.
Our grandma was a strong woman and an incredible role model who approached this battle determined to keep her dignity and fight the cancer while staying true to herself. Throughout her treatment, the staff at The Royal Marsden supported her wishes, allowing her to maintain her confidence and positivity right up until she sadly but peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family, on the 23rd of November 2024.
Elizabeth was the heart and soul of our family. She was a glamorous woman with a love for all things striped and designer. Her kind and caring nature made everyone feel cherished, and she had an extraordinary way of making each of us feel special. As an excellent host, she welcomed everyone with warmth, always having something freshly baked in the kitchen. Her unique sense of humour always kept us laughing, and her beautiful smile is something we will never forget. She lived a life full of love with our grandpa, Rodney Bennion, travelling the world together and never leaving each other’s side. To us, she was more than just a grandma; she was a mother figure we both looked up to. She is the glue that holds our family together.
In her memory, please donate as much as you can—any donation is greatly appreciated. We look forward to running this in March.
This is for you, Grandma. We love you!
