Raising money for Family Rights Group

We want all children to thrive in their families and have loving relationships. We work to build an effective child welfare system to make that a reality. We advise parents and kinship carers, run projects like Lifelong Links for young people in care and we campaign for better support for families.

Story

A group of 13 of us - trustees, team members and supporters - will be raising money for Family Rights Group by completing an ultratriathlon (also know as an Ironman). The thing is we're doing it as a team.

All these feats were completed between 19th and 26th October.

Cyclists: Mark Gurrey cycled 95 km and Paul Hewitt has cycled at least 90km.

Swimmers: Jessica Johnson and Vicky Rourge both swam 1000 metres in a very chilly lakes and lochs; Jason Nisse also has swum 1000 metres, but in a warm swimming pool, while Ann Chavasse has swum an an amazing 2.85 km.

Runners Sue White has covered 12 km despite spraining her wrist amd Jeremy Westhead has run a half marathon in the rain and both Cathy Ashely and Kevin Makwikila have run 10 km.

David Price has amazingly run 10km, swum 1000m and cycled 109km!!!

So in total we've swum 6.85 km, cycled 390km and run 55km, well over the Ironman Triathlon which is a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.20 km) run, raced in that order.

Well done everyone.
