Glasgow Caledonian University ACS fundraising for Black Minds Matter UK

Raising money for Black Minds Matter UK

Founded in 2020, Black Minds Matter UK (BMMUK) delivers safe and accessible, culturally appropriate support and talking therapies with, and for the Black community. BMMUK matches clients with a Black therapist from a wide network, based on their individual needs, to provide bespoke, appropriate 1-2-1 therapy. We share resources online and promote our work through social media to increase the awareness of mental health issues and the therapy services we offer to the Black community. We also host workshops and talks for the wider community, institutions and organisations. We advocate for transformational systems change and aim to influence policy which will result in a mental healthcare system which is intersectional in its approach. Our Vision: A community of Black people readily accessing culturally appropriate mental health support, recovering fully from mental illness, so that they may thrive and inspire others. Our Future: Diversifying the services offered to meet the needs of the wider Black community.

Story

This November, the African Caribbean Society at Glasgow Caledonian University is coming together to raise funds for Black Minds Matter UK - a charity dedicated to connecting Black individuals and families with free mental health support by Black therapists.

As November is Men’s Mental Health Month, we’re running, walking, and moving a collective 3,000km to honour the strength, resilience, and vulnerability within our community.

Every kilometre represents our commitment to breaking stigmas, fostering open conversations, and standing firm in power and pride - together.

Your donation, no matter how small, helps make therapy more accessible and ensures no one suffers in silence.

Let’s move for a cause that matters. Let’s move for Black Minds Matter. 💛

Black Minds Matter UK's vision is for a community of Black people readily accessing free culturally appropriate mental health support, recovering fully from mental illness, so that they may thrive and inspire others.
