Raising money for Aspire and Refugee Women of Bristol

Story

Hi everyone,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have signed up for Swim the Night. This is a 12 hour event in Hampton (heated) lido where you swim 1km on the hour, every hour, from 7pm to 7am. This is taking place in October, so although the water may be warm-ish, the air outside definitely won't be! Please consider donating to Aspire and or the Refugee Women of Bristol, to motivate me through the hours of staring at the bottom of a pool to train, and staying awake through the night, getting in and out of the pool.

Aspire is the official charity partner of the event, and they support people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury across the UK, including assistive tech and accessible housing. Through its projects and programmes, Aspire offers practical support to the 105,000 people living with a spinal cord injury in the UK, from newly injured spinal cord injury patients in hospital and throughout their lives. This support allows people with spinal injury to lead fulfilled and independent lives in their homes, with their families, in their workplace and in leisure time.

Refugee Women of Bristol is a support network for refugee women in Bristol, and is the only multi-ethnic, multi-faith organisation that specifically targets the needs of refugee women in Bristol. They are directly governed by women of the refugee and asylum-seeking community. They provide services to disenfranchised groups over and above the generic category of ‘refugee’, and routinely reach cohorts of women that other service providers overlook or are unable to access. They aim to raise the educational and economic status of refugee and asylum seeking women; provide access to English language learning, volunteering and training opportunities in order to increase the ability of service users to gain employment and support themselves and reduce isolation and improve confidence.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
