Raising money for Sightsavers, The Sanata Charitable Trust - Restart Africa and HopeFull

Story

To take place on 22nd August 2023

UPDATE - 19/08/23 - Louise's daughter, Maddy Higham, has very kindly offered to do the jump for Gill and, in so doing, try to raise more funds for Gill's charity, Sightsavers. She will also be able to push Louise out of the plane!

*************************************************

UPDATE - 17/8/23 - despite my mother now being seriously ill in hospital I am determined to do this for my charities, for Gill, and for all those of you who have been wonderful and sponsored me. I am trying not to think about it too much as I am seriously worried about doing it but it would be too easy to use my mother's illness as an excuse to back out.

*****************************************

Very sadly Gill has recently been in hospital and is unlikely to be allowed to do the jump with Louise. The date has been put back to 22nd August in order for Gill to, hopefully, be well enough to attend and support Louise. Gill is determined that she will do something to justify all her sponsors wonderful support once she is feeling better. This does, of course, mean that Louise has to do the jump on her own which is even more scary but, the more people that sponsor her, the less likely she is to bottle it!

*******************************************************************************Gill Tuson and Louise Higham turned 80 and 60 this year respectively and we wanted to challenge ourselves - not only to do something that we didn't think we could do, but to raise money for causes that are close to our hearts.

Louise is raising funds for Siobhan's Trust, working to bring aid, comfort and hope to the people of Ukraine, and for Restart Africa, a charity in Kenya that she volunteered for whilst living there, which rescues street children and gives them a future.

Gill is raising funds for Sightsavers, a cause close to her heart after a close member of her family had their sight saved inspiring her to want the same opportunity for everyone.

Both are terrified of the prospect of jumping out of a plane - the only thing that is stopping them bottling out is the fear of being shown up by the other!
