Story
In 2022 the Good Time Running Club collectively raised a lot of money for some great causes. When signing up for the Edinburgh Marathon this year we were hesistant to ask for further donations given how difficult times are at the moment. That was until we heard Andrews story. Andrew Johnstone who is a friend of the club unfortunately lost his mother Bernadette Johnstone in December 2022 after a year long battle with cancer.
There are many of us running this years Edinburgh Marathon and Edinburgh Half Marathon and we'd love to try and support Andrew who is also running in his mothers memory. If you can spare anything that would be appreciated. Many of us are running our furthest ever distance which takes a lot of time and training so we'd love to put this to good use and help support Andrew and others who have lost family members due to the tragedy of cancer.
Here is Andrew's story and why he is fundraising
"When my mum was diagnosed with cancer in 2021, we never thought we would only have one year left with her. Throughout that year, she continued to be the most generous, selfless, kind and caring woman I have ever metm still continually putting others needs before her own. We unexpectedly lost my mum on the 1st of December 2022, and I am running the Edinburgh Marathon for her, but also for all of the other families affected by cancer in an effort to be just a fraction as selfless as my mum was. I know times are tough right now but if you can spare anything at all it would be greatly appreciated"
