Story
During Blood Cancer Awareness Month, Greco Advisors are taking on a 50km charity hike along the Thames Path to raise funds for Leukaemia UK.
As a team, we’ll be walking this challenging route to support the vital work of Leukaemia UK, helping to fund life-saving research and improve treatments for those affected by blood cancer. Every step we take is driven by a shared commitment to make a difference and support patients and their families.
We’re proud to come together as a company for this cause and would greatly appreciate any support. Your donations will help accelerate progress towards better outcomes and, ultimately, a cure.
Thank you for supporting our journey.
Here are a few key fundraising milestones that demonstrate the incredible impact donations can have at Leukaemia UK and what they could help fund:
£1,000:
Could fund enough patient samples for a year. Patient samples are incredibly important. These donated blood or bone marrow samples allow researchers to study how the disease starts and how it can be stopped. By funding a year’s worth of samples, you’re giving researchers the material they need to make real progress — and ultimately help more patients survive.
£2,000:
Could fund a much-needed microscope, which is a vital tool that lets researchers look closely at cells and tissues to spot the tiny changes that happen in patients with leukaemia. It helps them see what’s going wrong inside the body — things you can’t see with the naked eye. With better tools like this, researchers can make new discoveries, improve diagnosis, and move us closer to better and kinder treatments.
£5,000:
Could fund an automated cell counter. In leukaemia research, every cell counts — literally. This machine quickly and precisely counts the number of cells in a blood sample, helping scientists see how many cancer cells are present and how treatments are working. It saves valuable time and ensures accurate results, so researchers can focus on finding better ways to treat leukaemia.
£10,000:
Could fund a year of discovery. Behind every breakthrough in leukaemia research is a dedicated researcher working tirelessly in the lab. They can’t do it without the tools, materials, and tests that enable them to put their ideas into practice. By covering the cost of essential equipment for a full year, you’re helping to stop leukaemia devastating lives.
£20,000:
Could fund nucleosome positioning sequencing. This advanced technique helps researchers understand how DNA is packaged inside our cells and how genes are switched on and off. By mapping where DNA is wrapped around proteins called nucleosomes, scientists can identify genetic mistakes that drive leukaemia and better understand how different treatments affect cancer cells. This deeper understanding could lead to more targeted and effective treatments for people living with leukaemia.
£200,000:
Could fund a full John Goldman Fellowship, supporting vital research into kinder, more effective treatments for leukaemia. Our flagship funding programme honours pioneering haematologist Professor John Goldman and backs some of the brightest early-career researchers to pursue bold, innovative ideas. Over the last decade, these Fellowships have helped turn groundbreaking research into life-changing discoveries, bringing us closer to a future where more people survive leukaemia.
