Raising money for Scottish Action for Mental Health

Around since 1923, SAMH currently operates over 60 services in communities across Scotland. These services together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention, sport and physical activity; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change.

Story

Earlier this year, our team experienced a heartbreaking loss when one of our long-standing colleagues died by suicide. It was a devastating moment for all of us.

In Scotland, suicide is now the leading cause of death among men under 50—a tragic and unacceptable reality. As a team, we felt strongly that we needed to do something to raise awareness and honour our colleague’s memory.

Together, we’ve decided to take on the challenge of walking the 24 miles of the Dava Way. It’s more than just a walk—it’s a symbol of our commitment to breaking the silence around mental health and showing that no one has to struggle alone.

If this walk helps even one person feel seen, heard, or supported—if it saves even one life—it will have been worth every step.
