GUCH team Dorset hike for UCLH charity 0808

Raising money for University College London Hospitals Charity UK

We're the official charity supporting patients, staff and research at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) NHS Foundation Trust. We focus on four main areas. Supporting patient care Training and developing staff Environment and equipment Advancing research.

Story

The GUCH team provides specialist cardiology care for adults who were born with heart disease, taking over their care at 18yrs of age from the paediatric specialists.

Our charity account provides essential funding, which allows the team to provide patient educational events and group meetings in non-NHS time and also provides funds for staff to attend educational meetings and conferences. Maintaining expert up-to-date knowledge in our specialty is crucial for delivering high quality care for patients and giving best outcomes.

The hike team made up of admin personnel, managers, specialist nurses, physiologists, psychologists and doctors, will be hiking a thigh burning 20 miles along the Dorset Jurassic coast in 1 day. It's no mean feat with a hike along steep cliff edges over a total elevation of 4000ft. It's a proper challenge and will test the fittest but as a team we will make it!
