On the 21st September 2025, a number or Fire Fighters and colleagues from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service will be challenging themselves to complete the 21.1km distance of Ipswich’s Half Marathon whilst carrying a basket stretcher.

This particular challenge will be undertaken in honour and memory of colleagues no longer with us, and to raise funds for both The Firefighters Charity and Stowmarket Saturday ASD Club.

Following this event, a team of 6 will be attempting to set a new record of running a marathon in full fire fighting PPE including breathing apparatus sets at York marathon on October19th.
