Campaign by UK Sepsis Trust (RCN 1158843)
The Great North Run is the world's largest half marathon with an incredible atmosphere, starting in Newcastle upon Tyne and finishing by the sea in South Shields

Story

This year, we’re taking on the Great North Run together to raise awareness for sepsis and to support the UK Sepsis Trust, a charity that means so much to us both.

In June, Hannah went into septic shock after cellulitis, caused by a skin condition called PLEVA, became infected. Her arm doubled in size, she was in and out of consciousness, constantly being sick, struggling to breathe, and her heart rate and blood pressure dropped to dangerously low levels. She was genuinely fighting for her life.

Sepsis can happen to anyone. Hannah was only 22 when she nearly lost hers.

We feel incredibly lucky that Hannah came through it, but recovery hasn’t been easy. Although she has come such a long way, she still lives with Post Sepsis Syndrome and is continuing the long road to feeling like herself again.

Sepsis isn’t spoken about enough. More awareness is needed about the symptoms and just how quickly it can escalate.

The UK Sepsis Trust has provided so much support to Hannah and to those around her. If you or someone you know has experienced sepsis, is struggling after sepsis, or simply wants to learn more, please take a look at the support and resources they offer.

If you’re able to donate, share, or support us in any way, it would mean the world to us. Thank you so much ❤️
