Joy in Every Step: Walking for Clean Water Campaign Event
I love to walk. I try to walk at least 5,000 steps a day. I walk for my health, to stay active, and I enjoy the blessing of drinking clean water every day.
But in Kisii, Kenya, children at the IOL Mission Center walk for a very different reason.
Every day, many children and families walk 1–3 miles or more just to collect water—and often the water they bring home is unsafe to drink.
Starting May 25, for 28 days I am committing to walk 8,000 steps every day to help bring clean, safe water to the children and families of Kisii through the IOL Joyphone Clean Water Project.
Those 8,000 steps represent the nearly 3 miles these children walk every day—sometimes more than once a day—just to fetch water.
During this campaign, our goal is to raise $5,000, but I don’t want to walk alone.
