This Charity event has been created because of Rio Amoroso’s story and diagnosis of hydrocephalus after his brain tumour removal surgery.

What is hydrocephalus?

Hydrocephalus is a build-up of fluid in the brain, which can be caused after brain tumour removal surgery in Rios case. The excess fluid puts pressure on the brain, which can damage it. The treatment for the condition is the placement of a permanent device called a shunt which Harry’s Hat Charity have supported in providing all the information we were looking for to help us understand this life long condition.

Harry's Hydrocephalus Awareness Trust (Harry's HAT) was founded in 2018, the charity is user-led. The aim of the charity is to make life better for children with hydrocephalus and their families.
