I am raising money for my lovely mum, Jenny, who passed away on 5th October 2023 from breast cancer.

I’ve decided to split the fundraising between three charities. Firstly, Martlets who took such good care of my mum and my family through the worst experience you could ever imagine. The work that they do is so important and this is just a small way to say a big thank you. Secondly, Cancer Research UK because, ultimately, fuck cancer. And lastly, my mum would hate it being all about her and so I thought it would be a good idea to choose a local animal charity - The Kit Wilson Trust - as she was always a true animal lover and champion of helping them when in need.

For the challenge itself, I’ve decided to run 28 10km runs over one year (5th October 2025 to 5th October 2026). Why 28? Well, I realised that my mum had me when she was 28 and she passed away when I was 28 so it’s become a pretty important and sentimental number. And why running? Because for me this is a proper challenge. I am not a natural runner by any means - I even have an ‘I hate running’ t-shirt that my mum bought me. My mum, on the other hand, rather enjoyed the odd run and even dragged me on a few so I figured this would be a nice way to remember her and those times.

I’m aiming to raise about £300 for each of the three charities in total and would be hugely appreciative of any donations!

So far, my plan is looking like a mix of organised 10km events and some of my own 10km runs. I’ll make sure to log them all on Strava and keep you updated with my progress. And if anyone fancies joining me for a 10km or two, or has any recommendations for races or music that would also be very welcome ☺️
