Story
Did you know that 1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime? For men of African and Afro-Caribbean descent this statistic can be as high as 1 in 4. In our group photo above that means there could be at least 5 men suffering with the condition some of whom could be totally unaware of the fact.
Herts Scots is a Masonic Lodge in Hertfordshire that, like all Masonic Lodges, actively supports local and national charities and we do have a number of members suffering from PCa. We know first-hand what a dreadful impact it can have on men, their wives and families so please help us to raise funds for research.
We are taking on the Walk 60 Miles in November challenge for PCR to help make a difference to men and their families who have been affected by prostate cancer. The guy standing on the extreme right in the photo with a wand in his hand is Peter an all-round “good egg”, a good Freemason and always ready to help others in need but who is now undergoing treatment for recently discovered PCa. We are taking on this challenge in his name.
I have also suffered with PCa which was first diagnosed over 17 years ago and it has only been excellent NHS treatment and advice, enabled by ongoing research, which has kept me healthy into my 77th year. That research is driving exciting new developments in both treatments and the early detection of the condition (which is so vital) and relies heavily on support from your donations.
Please support us during this challenge by donating what you can though our page. Every donation you make helps advance our mission to create a world free from the impact of prostate cancer.
Thank you for your support! 💙🧡
