Story
Princess Alice Hospice
Princess Alice Hospice provides care to families when they need it most.
Our friend Harry July spent his final weeks there, and he often spoke of the extraordinary kindness and compassion he received from the nurses. This charity holds a special place in the hearts of Harry’s family, as well as many others in South West London, whose loved ones have experienced the same exceptional care.
About our friend, Harry
Harry was diagnosed with eye melanoma at just 18, back in 2011. True to his character, he faced the diagnosis with resilience, always remaining positive. After a successful operation, he enjoyed six incredible and healthy years. Unfortunately, the cancer returned, and despite his unwavering positivity, it became terminal. Harry passed away on January 9th, 2017.
While undergoing chemotherapy, Harry continued to drive us to football, and whenever he could, he joined in with training. One evening, when too tired to participate, he mentioned how lucky we were to have the physical capability to play the sport he loved most.
Somewhat ironically, Harry always joked about how much he hated running, yet it was these words that inspired so many to take part in a 7k run during COVID, raising over £10,000 for his chosen charities. It’s also the reason Will and I have decided to take on the London Marathon next year, in his memory.
Harry lived a bold and full life, bringing joy wherever he went and building deep, genuine connections with everyone he met. His legacy continues to live on in the countless lives he touched, and he will always be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him.
Please help us raise money in his honour, and in honour of the family and friends who have experienced the exceptional care of Princess Alice Hospice.
The hospice relies solely on donations, needing £10 million annually to provide free, specialist end-of-life care.
Princess Alice Hospice offers a wide range of compassionate services, tailored to the unique needs of each patient and their family. Their care helps people live fully, create lasting memories, and share precious moments. When the time comes, they support families before, during, and after the loss of a loved one.
