Raising money for LATCH Welsh Children's Cancer Charity and Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust

Story

Thank you for taking time to visit our Just Giving page. We are raising funds for two charities and there are two links below to choose from, if you are able to donate we would be extremely grateful. We would like to keep funds raised even across the two charities, please review the running totals before you make your donation. Our colleague Anthony Couzens' 5 year old daughter Ada was recently diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain tumour. Following surgery Ada is currently receiving proton beam radiotherapy in London, alongside a long course of chemotherapy locally in Cardiff. Anthony, his wife Lauren, and Ada’s sister Hetty are together as a family in London supporting Ada whilst she is undergoing treatment to help her fight this awful disease and save her life.

On the 4th and 5th July 2024 Anthony's colleagues at HSBC are walking 46 miles from HSBC's office in Bristol city centre to our Cardiff office, where Anthony and his family are hoping to join us at the end of the walk in Cardiff. This is a massive challenge with circa 50 colleagues involved across the two days walking nearly the sum of two marathons in two days.

We are completing this challenge to raise funds for two charities that are supporting Anthony's family through Ada's diagnosis and ongoing treatment.

LATCH Welsh Children's Cancer Charity supports children and their families who are being treated by the Oncology Unit at the Children’s Hospital of Wales. Around 70 new cases are diagnosed every year. LATCH is most well known for its on-Site Family Accommodation at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. The accommodation is offered to families free of charge and helps keep families together during their child’s stay in hospital. LATCH needs to raise on average £700,000 a year to cover the costs of supporting families.

The Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust is working hard to raise awareness of childhood cancer signs and symptoms. They produce educational resources for parents and clinicians, provide support to families and fund research into rare cancers of childhood. They fund research into rare and aggressive childhood cancers, educate families and clinicians about the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer and produce information booklets to explain to parents and children about the treatments they are facing. Locally, they provide financial, practical, and emotional support to families through their support service. Giving families a listening ear at the time when they need it most. Because no family should fight childhood cancer alone.

We are hoping to raise equal funds across the two charities, you can see the running totals in the donation links below. HSBC will match donations £ for £.

Thank you for your support from all of Anthony's colleagues at HSBC
