Story
.Five members of Hucknall and Linby Brass are taking part in the Robin Hood half marathon on Sunday 28th September! Abi, Emma, Lauren, Ella and Matt are raising money for two charities that are close to the band’s heart and have impacted on a number of us over the last two years.
The first is the Stroke Association - many of you will be aware that Paul Whyley our Musical Director suffered a stroke in December last year and this has had a profound effect on both his family (Abi Lauren and Ella are running the Half Marathon!) and his band family! The Stroke Association ‘provides support and information to help people rebuild their lives after a stroke as well as funding critical research into treatments and prevention.’
The second is the Bowelbabe fund. Emma our Soprano Cornet player was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer in April 2023. She’s now fully in remission but living with a permanent stoma and she’ll be running the half marathon with us! Bowelbabe ‘fund cutting-edge research into early detection and personalised medicine, raise awareness of signs and symptoms and tackle the stigmas around cancer’ and was founded in memory of Dame Deborah James.
Thanks for anything you are able to donate to these causes it will help motivate us to cross the finish line!!
