Team fundraising for RMA - The Royal Marines Charity

Raising money for RMA - The Royal Marines Charity

This year, the 28th October marks the 360th birthday of the Royal Marines Commandos. To celebrate this special birthday, we would love it if you would join us to raise £360 in your own special way - run, walk, cycle, bake - the choice is yours!

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Me and my favourite daughter will be smashing ourselves to bits at Hyrox Amsterdam, in October.

If you have no idea what Hyrox is, take a quick shifty at this wee YouTube video. The race is quite simple - it's a combination of 8kms of running and some pretty brutal exercises.

Generally quite an unpleasant experience.

Becky and I will be running as a team in the mixed doubles which means we'll be completing the exercise stations together - in simple terms, I'll be doing most of the heavy lifting, Bex will be doing the majority of the cardio and the burpees. We'll be doing all the running together.

It's going to be about 1hr 20mins of unadulterated hell and will test my ticker and titanium hip to their limits.

We started training about 8 weeks ago and have been making really solid progress. This is in no small part to the gyms we train at - Balbirnie, in Fife and Lift Gym, in Edinburgh. We've also been using the Tin Shed up at Howe of Fife RFC for all our sled work.

Anyway, here's the important bit.

We're raising as much cash as we can for the Royal Marines Charity which was set up to help Bootnecks young and old by offering a range of services to both serving, veterans and their families.

We can't do enough to help these brave lads and their relatives. They have sacrificed so much for us - this is a great chance to give them something back.

Every little bit helps.

Onwards and upwards!!
