Story
We want to thank everyone who has so kindly donated to the charities chosen in memory of Clare. Nothing can ever replace our lovely daughter, but the incredible kindness and consideration shown to us by so many people has been of real comfort. Thank you all very, very much! Jane, Sarah, and Ian
Background
Our lovely, kind, gentle, and talented daughter Clare disappeared on Mull on 7th January, 2025. There was an extensive and comprehensive search for her and a long Police investigation into her disappearance. Searches for her body continued for a few months until the conclusion was that she had died by Misadventure in the sea between Mull and the island of Erraid, at Erraid Sound.
Two articles of clothing were found: a Wellington boot and her jacket, both confirmed as belonging to Clare. Both items were found within about 200m of where she was thought to have entered the water while cold-water swimming alone at night. Her body will not be found, and a verdict of "Presumption of Death" has been made.
These charity pages have been set up to raise money for the voluntary organisations that were involved in the searches for Clare and the charities that Clare supported directly in the searches for her.
One cannot overestimate the incredibly hard work and long hours that so many local people and others put into looking for Clare. As a family, we are so grateful to all those concerned, and this fundraising tribute is aimed at helping the organisations that are not nationally funded or their associations that look after the staff/ volunteers.
We cannot cover the cost incurred, nor thank the excellent people who took part in the search processes enough. However, if you would like to join us in contributing to their organization, you will be helping them to help more people in the future.
Clare supported a number of environmental and caring charities. We have linked the ones that we know of that Clare supported herself.
Thank you,
Ian, Jane and Sarah in loving memory of Clare
