Raising money for Royal Free Charity

World AIDS Day RED RUN 2026 · 21 November 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

The Royal Free Charity supports staff and patients across the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. From small acts of kindness to huge investments in research, everything we do changes lives for the better. We support our hospitals to go further, faster – delivering impact locally and globally.

Story

The Red Run London is an annual 5K/10K charity fun run and walk leading up to World AIDS Day. Since its start in 2009, the event has become the UK’s largest World AIDS day fundraiser and has raised over £1.5m for 30 HIV charities and projects across the UK.

This unique day goes beyond just a run or a walk. It unites HIV charities, those living with HIV, and the broader community. Together we raise awareness, celebrate progress, and advocate for continued support for people living with HIV. Over 106,000 people in the UK are still living with HIV, and stigma remains a barrier to care. Funding cuts also threaten essential services.

This year, Jim Fielder, Tristan Barber and Zena Tambini from the Ian Charleson Day Centre – an HIV clinic inside the Royal Free Hospital - will be taking part in the Red Run and raising money to continue providing vital services for people living with HIV.
