Insightful Trekkers are taking part in Trek26NorthYorkMoors2025-26miles
This summer, Katherine Friis and I will be challenging ourselves to trek 26 scenic miles along the Yorkshire coast! Not because we are overly ambitious or enjoy a hiking sweet (or 6) but to raise vital funds and awareness for Alzheimer's Society.
As Optometrists we often see the impact of dementia on our patients and their families. We also play a vital part in helping maintain vision which can positively reduce the impact of dementia.
However, more recently, I have felt the impact directly when my dad was diagnosed last year. Seeing the impact the disease has first hand and how it impacts on those around them has brought a range of emotions.
One in three of us born in the UK today will develop dementia in our lifetimes. Alzheimer’s Society vows to help end the devastation caused by dementia, but they need our help. We have set ourselves the challenge of raising £1,000 before the event in July.
Please support us to support Alzheimer's Society. We will be grateful to each and every one as we put one foot in front of the other (and the next, and next....).
Thank you
