Story

This year, two of our apprentices, Jack & Emerson, are taking part in a skydive to raise money for our long term charity partner, Haven House Children's Hospice. Please support the team by making a donation to a very worthy cause.

Introduction to Haven House

Haven House Children’s Hospice is a special place where seriously ill children and their families receive extraordinary care.

Being told that your child is seriously ill is devastating. This is why Haven House Children’s Hospice is there. Their support is a vital lifeline to hundreds of children and their families each year. Haven House’s care is unique and tailored to the needs of each family they serve. The compassionate care they provide helps these extraordinary children make the most of every day.

Creating lasting memories

Haven House Children’s Hospice offers compassionate care and practical support – their care is bespoke to every child. Their services are delivered by nurses, therapists, counsellors and support workers, either at the hospice or in the home. Any amount you can give will help seriously ill children and their families get the expert care they need.

Haven House Children's Hospice focuses on making every moment count. They create opportunities for children and families to enjoy precious moments together, offering experiences such as sensory play, music therapy, and fun activities. Your donation helps create memories that families will hold onto forever.

By supporting Haven House, you’re playing a crucial role in brightening the lives of seriously ill children and allowing them to experience the simple joys that many take for granted.

£100 could cover the cost of a one-hour physiotherapy session, which helps to restore movement and function to a child affected by illness. These sessions can also provide parents with advice on how to support at home, giving them greater confidence to manage their child’s condition.

£150 could give a family half a day with a Haven House specialist play worker to make positive and enduring memories together. This could provide a family with opportunities such as a memorable day out, or the materials to make hand casts and memory boxes for special keepsakes.

£350 could pay for a four-hour respite break at the hospice allowing the parent vital time away from their caring duties and a chance to recharge. The child will have access to a sensory playroom, fully accessible playground as well as specialist care from nurses, healthcare support workers and music therapists.

Haven House provide expert care that helps children with life-threatening conditions enjoy life as children, rather than as patients. Haven House provide compassionate care for seriously ill children and their families, whenever and wherever they are needed. They offer every family the choice of where their child is supported, either at the hospice or at home.

Haven House provide day care, overnight stays, end of life care and bereavement support, as well as life enriching activities such as sensory play, music therapy, yoga and physiotherapy. Together, we can help families create happy memories and make the most of every moment.

Why support?

Each year it costs Haven House Children’s Hospice around £6 million to run the hospice.

They cannot exist without the support of our community. Your donation means they can continue to provide specialist care whenever and wherever families need them, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Haven House care for hundreds of seriously ill children, their siblings and families each year.

This equates to three life-limited children for every square mile in your community. Every time you go to work, to school, or to the shops, you might not know it, but you will be a passing a Haven House family. There are still more than 3,000 children who urgently need access to palliative care services locally, and this is increasing. With your support, together we can make a difference.

In the past year Haven House:

• Cared for 401 babies, children and young people

• Provided 25,180 hours of care

• Supported 156 siblings

• Carried out 871 home visits

• Supported families through 137 nights of end-of-life care
