We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

We have decided to run the Leeds Half Marathon on May 14th 2023 with the intention of fundraising for a wonderful charity and cause close to our hearts. We aim to raise £500 for Alzheimer's Society to support those affected by dementia. Dementia is an umbrella term for loss of memory and other thinking abilities which makes normal day to day activities difficult. Currently 900,000 people in the UK are living with dementia. Izzy's nanna was diagnosed with dementia in 2017 which progressively worsened until her passing in 2022. Ione's Spanish grandfather sadly passed away before she was born aged 65 from young-onset dementia. In 2018, Ione's English grandpa was diagnosed with dementia and has been cared for and supported by her grandma and family. We want ensure that everyone has access to the best support available in these challenging times and hope to raise money and awareness. Alzheimer's Society provides support and services for people with dementia and their families. They work to fund research into new treatments and therapies for this devastating condition. If you are not in a position to donate even just sharing our link on social media pages would be a huge help! :)

Thank you for your generosity and support <3

Our amazing friends Tam, Alex, Lucas and Will are also joining us on the day to raise money for Leukaemia and Myeloma Research, check them out: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tamara-walbourn-half-marathon-leukaemia-uk?utm_source=copyLink&utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=tamara-walbourn-half-marathon-leukaemia-uk&utm_campaign=pfp-share&utm_term=3dfbb194bece4e56b06630adf433556c
