Instead of flowers, we’re asking for donations in memory of baby Jack Critchley, to raise funds for a cooling cot. The cooling cot at North Manchester General Hospital allowed us to spend precious days with Jack when he was born. We'd like other parents to be able to experience this. A cooling cot costs £3,000 and we hope to fundraise this amount eventually.

The Abi Cooling Cot® is a refrigerated unit that allows families to spend more time with their deceased baby than would otherwise be possible.

The cooling cot helps parents to bond with their baby and aids the grieving process. Since 2017, Abigail’s Footsteps, in partnership with The Bond Group, has delivered over 300 Abi Cooling Cots to hospitals and hospices across the UK and Ireland. In 2025, we even shipped five cots to Australia, because every family deserves this gift of time no matter where they are.

It is our mission to encourage all bereavement suites in hospitals to have at least two cooling cots.
