Campaign by Brain Tumour Research (RCN England and Wales 1153487, Scotland SC046840)
Our annual fundraiser is back! Join us by putting your hats on for hope on Friday 28th March to help fund the fight to find a cure for all types of brain tumours.

Story

In December 2024, Jacob was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour (a Choroid Plexus Papilloma) when he was only 3 months old. During December, he underwent 7 surgeries to help alleviate the symptoms the tumour was causing, including chemotherapy to try and reduce it. However, unfortunately the tumour kept growing.

In February 2025, Jacob had an embolisation surgery and 3 major surgeries to remove the tumour. Each surgery was over 14 hours long and a massive demand and risk on his little body.

Jacob is currently recovering from his surgeries.

This is only a summary of what Jacob's life has been like so far. Despite our worlds being turned upside down in December, Jacob has always continued to fight, he is a lion, and our biggest inspiration, along with his big sister, Ada. Whilst the journey ahead is going to be long and tough, we are certain Jacob will continue to defy the odds.

We are eternally grateful and thankful for all the love and support we have received from family and friends. But most importantly, Jacob wouldn't be here today without the incredible team at Addenbrookes Hospital - the neurosurgical team, anesthetists, oncologists, doctors, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, nurses on D2, intensive care nurses, brainbow team and especially all the nurses and playteam staff on C2, they have carried us all and continue to carry us through this - with everything we have, thank you.

We would like to start to give something back by taking part in something fun and raising awareness

Thank you for reading Jacob's story xx

Due to ongoing financial pressures of being in hospital since December, and everything that Jacob will need going forward when we do go home, we have decided to set up a Gofundme page to hopefully help ease our situation slightly, any donation would be incredibly appreciated, no matter how small - thank you so much xxx https://gofund.me/559e592f

Since its launch in 2010, Wear A Hat Day has raised more than £2.2 million to support scientific breakthroughs in our Research Centres of Excellence.

So, whether you favour a fedora or a fascinator, a beanie or a beret, by wearing your finest headgear and taking part, you can help bring hope to the one in three people who knows someone affected by a brain tumour.

You can make an even bigger impact when you invite other people to get involved and spread the fun as well as awareness of our cause.
