Join us for an unforgettable evening under the stars as we light up the night for Saint Michael’s Hospice. The annual Midnight Glow Walk is back, and it promises to be even brighter than before!

Story

As a family, Gemma, Hannah, Beth, Julia & Kelly will be walking the 10km midnight walk in Harrogate on the 13th of September to raise money for such a worthy cause. In memory of our mum and the family members that are no longer with us, who received care from this outstanding Hospice. Any donation is massively appreciated, thank you. ❤️

Earlier this year our beautiful, wonderful mum passed away. Mum was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic lung cancer on October 1st 2024. Having already beaten lung cancer once in 2010, this earth-shattering news broke all of our hearts. Mum fought as hard as she could until her last breath on the 19th March 2025, leaving a devastated family behind her.

Mum was truly inspirational, to so many, and she has left a huge gaping hole in not only ours and our dad’s life but also all of her family and friends. Mum will always be a constant in our thoughts and we carry her memory alongside all the love and guidance she gave us every single day.

Mum was at peace at the end of her life, taking huge comfort in her faith and God’s will, which allowed her to accept her illness and journey to her final resting place in heaven.

But another huge comfort to mum during her last days on Earth, was Saint Michael’s Hospice. Mum was very unwell in hospital at the time a room became available for her at Saint Michael’s, but she was adamant that she would be making the journey. Having seen first hand their exceptional care of both her sister Christine & Mother in Law Gladys, mum decided that when the time came, she wished to be at Saint Michael’s Hospice, and thankfully she managed to achieve that.

The care mum received during her time at Saint Michael’s Hospice was astounding. The team ensured that mums wishes were fulfilled, she was made as comfortable as possible, she was safe and well cared for. Not only that, the staff endeavoured to ensure that myself and whole family were made welcome, we were permitted to bring mum’s dogs to visit and the family were able to stay by her side the entire time so she was never alone - which we knew meant so much to our mum. They found space for us all and no request was too much. I was overwhelmed by the level of care and sensitivity of every single staff member we met.

The kindness and compassion received by mum & my family was so gratefully received, it made all the difference in us navigating through the worst time of our lives.

We will be eternally grateful to all those at Saint Michael’s Hospice, and will always seek to raise funds for the vital and meaningful service they provide.

Thank you all again,

You are forever appreciated. ❤️
