Our RNLI lifeboats in the South West protect hundreds of communities through our 24-hour search and rescue service. They rely on the safest, most reliable lifeboats and modern stations to launch from. We need your support to help keep saving lives

Story

Four friends are taking part in the 2022 Wacky Rally - Barmy to Barcelona.

This is a challenge to drive an old banger, in our case a 20 year old Saab Estate, 1400 miles across Europe from Lille in northern France via the Alps, down to Barcelona in 4 days. To make it more interesting, the team have made the car into a lifeboat with a top superstructure crewed by two RNLI teddy bears.

Last time one of the team took part in this particular rally they won Wackiest Car as it was made to look like a tank. With the troubles in Europe at the moment it was decided to turn it into a lifeboat and raise monies for a great cause, the RNLI.

We hope you will sponsor us and make our efforts worthwhile. It sounds like a wonderful break, but it takes around 10.5 hours of driving per day and at times over the Alps, extremely stressful.

Thank you for reading this and hopefully supporting us

RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.
