Raising money for Breakthrough T1D and Action for Children

Story

I wanted to set a new challenge through 2026 that would encourage people to support 2 important charities. Therefore I will be pushing myself to get out on the dark, wet, windy days to rack up 2,026km of running through 2026, and in particular my main target for the year will be to complete a 100 miles in one day in October, in the Autumn 100 race in Goring, which will include running through 13 hours of darkness. I’ll also be tackling the London Marathon in April, plus the Bath, London Landmarks and Plymouth half marathons.

Breakthrough T1D (previously JDRF) plays a key role in supporting young kids like my niece and nephew to better manage life with Type 1 Diabetes, and hopefully find a cure so that one day families can be spared from the upheaval and constant challenges that life with T1D brings.

Action for Children creates opportunities for some of the staggering 4.5 million kids living in poverty in the UK today. While it is shocking that this is needed in a 1st world country in 2026, Action for Children help ensure more children can grow up with food in their bellies, warmth, safety and hopefully happiness that so many others take for granted.
