Trekking the Inca Trial - Peru

Raising money for Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity
In memory of Scott Eddy

Heart of Headland Boxes will provide patients at Royal Cornwall Hospital, who are about to embark on chemo or immunotherapy, with a selection of items to help them through their treatment.

Story

We have challenged ourselves to hike the Inca Trial in Peru this September in memory of our dear friend Scott Eddy.

Scott loved a holiday and he was always to keen to hear about our holiday adventures and especially our love of Florida, something that we both shared.

We are fully funding this trek ourselves and would love to be able to raise some funds for the Heart of Headland, a charity which not only supported our friend but also many other new patients recieving chemotherapy/immunotherapy at the Headland Unit, RCHT.

The trek itself is 26 miles (42 kms) long with the most challenging part being the altitude, which at its highest point is 13,769ft or 4198m. Otherwise known as dead women's pass 👀

The hike is over 4 days and our nights will be in basic tents along the route. Our final day of the hike will end at the ruins of Machu Picchu.

As a nurse myself I have seen first hand the response from new patients receiving a Heart of Headland box "a little box of comfort". It contains lovely items (most of which local) such as relaxation products, soft toothbrush, cotton socks, hand creams, tablet organisers etc. Something which the patients can use throughout there treatments.

Please help support this fantastic charity, any donations big or small would be gratefully received.

All proceeds raised will go directly to the Heart of Headland charity ❤️
