In June, Charlotte and I will be setting off at sunrise to bike, run and kayak in a race against the sun along the Jurassic Coast for children's charity, Action Medical Research.

For both of us this is going to be a true challenge and a real test of endurance. The course alone is not easy - 33km of off road biking (750m ascent), 3.5km of sea kayaking, and then a 16km (356m ascent) trail run. Both of us have let our fitness slide over the last eighteen months so we are starting from scratch with our training, neither of us are confident on bikes, and neither of us have ever properly kayaked before - and we will be in a two person kayak - what could possibly go wrong??! Hopefully our bodies and friendship will survive.

We will be racing in aid of children's charity, Action Medical Research. Their work is close to our hearts as both of us had very challenging births with our first-borns, and without the efforts of this charity the outcomes might have been very different for both our families.

They have spent over 70 years funding vital medical research and developing treatments to help sick and disabled babies, children and young people.
