Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.
I am aiming to walk a distance of 20km whilst carrying 40kg in kettlebells before the end of May.
As you can see I am a rather rotund (fat) city Councillor so I imagine this will be quite the challenge.
Money raised will be split between Nightgale house hospice and Cancer research Wales.
Any money donate in person during the walks will be donated to Bloomers wellbeing CIC, which is local community interest that offers counseling and mental health support for children and young people here in Wrexham - something which is desperately needed here.
There will be stretch goals of an extra 5km added for every £250 of fundraising (although I may not be able to get them all done before the end of May).
If we raise over £1000 I will farmer carry the kettlebells with me into the next full council meeting!
If the powers that be allow it!
For over 30 years, staff at Nightingale House Hospice have created an environment that gives patients and their loved ones quality time to spend together. Not having to worry about the care a loved one receives, knowing they are in safe hands, means every second spent together is dignified and peaceful. Without support such as yours, our specialist palliative care units wouldn’t be able to deliver such high standards.
Cancer Research Wales' mission is to unite Wales against cancer by funding high-quality, world-class research aimed at transforming cancer patients' lives. The charity works to reduce the impact of cancer, improve survival rates, and fund studies into prevention, early diagnosis, and treatments to ensure people in Wales don't accept cancer as a life-threatening disease.
Bloomers wellbeing CIC is formed to promote the emotional health and mental wellbeing of the young people of North East Wales through one-on-one "information and guidance" sessions.
