Story

Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation aim to raise enough money through the 70s run to make a difference to 70 people who are living with lung cancer and in need of financial help.

In addition to the distress of having lung cancer, many patients are also faced with financial concerns and difficulties, causing even further stress and anxiety.

Financial grants offer a little bit of relief for those living with lung cancer. Grants are awarded to patients in need of immediate financial assistance to help with the implications a lung cancer diagnosis often brings, such as:

- Increased heating bills

- Practical needs - such as wheelchairs, stair lifts and extra bedding

- Increased travel costs to and from hospital

- New clothing as a result a weight loss

- Respite from gruelling treatment such as trips away with loved ones

Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation have set up a JG campaign to try & raise enough money to support around 70 people living with lung cancer through our patient grants, there target is £10,500.

If they can reach our target through the 70s retro run & retro running series it will make a real difference to people who need our help right now.

Back in 1990 when the charity was established, we were the first UK charity solely dedicated to lung cancer and, 30 years on, we remain the only UK charity solely dedicated in supporting everyone affected by the disease.
Over the past 30 years together we have:
Funded over £30 million in lung cancer research
Lay the groundwork for lung cancer screening
Funded the first ever lung cancer nurse specialist
Performed the first ever lung cancer keyhole surgery
Helped thousands of people to stop smoking
Funded and built the first lung cancer research centre in the UK
Campaigned for life-lengthening treatments
Raised awareness of lung cancer, challenged the misconceptions around the disease and improved attitudes
Provided emotional, practical and financial support for thousands and thousands of people diagnosed and living with lung cancer.
But there is still so much more to do and we need support too.
