World Alzheimer’s Month: Helping People Live Well with Dementia
September is World Alzheimer’s Month, a global campaign to increase understanding of dementia and challenge the stigma that can prevent people from seeking support.
This year’s theme is "The Earlier You Know, The More You Can Do: A Dementia Diagnosis Matters.” It highlights why recognising the signs of dementia and getting the right support early can make such a difference.
This matters to Helping Hands because our carers and branch teams support people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia every day. By getting to know the person behind the diagnosis and adapting care around their needs, our teams help customers feel safe, understood and able to continue living well at home.
Swadlincote Branch is proud to take part in our very own Kilometres for Kindness Challenge, designed by our team to bring together our customers, carers, families, and local community while raising money for the Alzheimer's Society.
The challenge is simple: for every customer we deliver care to at Helping Hands Swadlincote, we pledge to complete 1 kilometre, turning every act of kindness into support for a fantastic cause. Thanks to a new customer joining us at the last minute, our challenge has now grown to 18km! 🎉
Every step we take helps raise awareness and support those affected by Alzheimer's and dementia. Thank you for your support! 💜🚶♀️🚶♂️
