Story
This October, we are each taking on 62 miles for the Stroke Association, in honour of our beautiful cousin Lucy. On 19th February, at just 36 years old, Lucy’s life was turned upside down when she suffered a major stroke. Watching our best friend and someone so young and full of life go through something so frightening was heartbreaking, but her courage and determination have been nothing short of inspiring. The day of and the week following the stroke was the hardest thing both Lucy and the family have been through, but through it all, Lucy’s strength kept us all going.
Against all the odds, she has made a miraculous recovery, and we are so grateful to still have her with us. Though challenging times may lie ahead, we’re walking and running these miles with love, pride, and hope - to support Lucy, to honour her journey and recovery and for everyone else who has been impacted by stroke.
We are grateful for the vital scientific research that the Stroke Association undertakes into stroke prevention, acute treatment and recovery and campaigning to secure the best care for all those affected by stroke. Without the work of this charity, our reality could have been very different.
So, Lucy, this is for you. We love you ❤️
