Anyone that knows me, knows that I enjoy walking but I wanted to do something that would help fundraise for two charities that mean a lot to me so my challenge is to walk 2025 miles in 2025!

I was going to set a lower target but someone suggested I aim for £2025 which would equate to a £1 per mile. I set my walking goal at the beginning of the year and am tracking on Strava. It was a slow starter for various reasons but now the challenge is on! Currently tracking at 506 miles completed with 1519 to go and 65 miles behind plan (was 150 miles behind plan at the beginning of March). I will post updates of my progress and also plan to take part in a few walking events throughout the year and will post updates of those too.

The idea of ‘Miles for Moments’ is that any money raised for these charities will go towards moments of care and support that the amazing Longfield Team, Carers and Nurses provide and moments of vital research that is needed to try and help identify this awful disease that affects too many sooner and the wish that one day, some types could even maybe be prevented.

Longfield Hospice provide care for adults in the Gloucestershire Community who are living with a life limiting condition and support their loved ones too. They provide this free, every day of the year and rely on voluntary donations to make this possible. The care and support that they provide helps patients and their families in their toughest of moments and the time they spend caring for patients allows for loved ones to spend more valuable moments together.

Cancer Research UK’s work fights 200 types of Cancer. Donations help to support over 4000 researchers, clinicians and nurses to work towards transforming how to prevent, diagnose and treat Cancer. This vital research is needed to bring hope to millions in the future and ultimately the wish that less people be affected by this awful disease and can live and enjoy more precious moments.
