Story

Hi!

Thank you for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page. Nia and I are Therapeutic Radiographers, working in the Radiotherapy Department at UCLH, keen to support the work of a Trust we are proud to work for. We take pride in the work we do to provide high quality, safe and accurate radiotherapy treatment for the patients we care for and for the hard working, dedicated staff we work alongside. We are absolutely also running for a treasured friend and UCLH colleague of ours, who is dearly missed everyday.

The Challenges

Whilst experiencing a delusional runner's high, Lauren found herself committed to the Saucony 10k on July 13th, 2025 and Nia will be joining for the Royal Parks Half Marathon on October 12th, 2025. Together, we hope to raise £1050 for the UCLH Cancer Fund and UCLH Charity Fund and it would be wonderful to have your support - financially, as well as emotionally and physically, when we're all out of puff and feel like we cannot take another step! Lauren and Nia have some running experience but; a half marathon feels like a biggy and we're hoping that consistency, training and a bit of good fortune will ensure we cross that finish line!

The Charity

Over 14,000 people every year are treated for cancer at UCLH, and this number is rising annually. Our patients come from across the UK though mostly from north London, Hertfordshire and Essex.

UCLH aims to ensure that all people with cancer, and their families and carers receive a world-class service from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. To achieve this aim and to support our patients, the UCLH Fund assists with important areas of work above and beyond what the NHS is able to provide. These include:

- Providing equipment, supplies and renovations

- Supportive care for patients

- Training, developing and supporting staff

- Advancing research
