My name is Lauren and I live with a condition that affects 1 in 10 women... but it is still so unrecognised, misunderstood and under researched.

Endometriosis is one of the top 20 most painful conditions in the world but it takes on average 8-10 years to receive a diagnosis, and treatment options are limited. Endo occurs when cells similar to the ones in the lining of the uterus are found elsewhere in the body; these cells can grow and change in response to hormones in the menstrual cycle.

Although symptoms include pelvic pain, painful periods that interfere with everyday life and heavy menstrual bleeding, it is a common misconception that endometriosis is simply a gynaecology issue. Endometriosis is actually a full body autoimmune disease.

Raising vital funds for Endometriosis UK will go towards them continuing with providing support, much needed information and campaigning for change!
